The recital will be preceded by a short lecture on Ignacy Jan Paderewski as a composer.
The recital program consists of music of the most prominent Polish composers of the Romantic era – the time period of the struggle for freedom and independence of the nation. The recital includes also first time performed piano and orchestral pieces of Chopin, Paderewski, Szymanowski, Karłowicz in performer’s own arrangements.
The artist performs the concert for promoting and strengthening the Polish musical tradition.
Donations, which may be submitted at the end of the concert, are intended only to cover the costs of the arrival of the artist.
Dr. Boguslaw Raba – Polish organist and musicologist. He is professor of musicology at the University of Wroclaw. He was also assistant and tutor in Academy of Music in Wrocław. He lectured also at the Academy of Music in Wroclaw and the Archdiocesan School of Church Music. He graduated with distinction Academy of Music in Wroclaw. His thesis won the first prize in the Master’s thesis competition. In 2003 he graduated with distinction in organ study also from Wroclaw. He took private study of improvisation by Jos van der Kooy in Amsterdam, then master study of organ improvisation and French organ music. He defended doctor thesis about I.J. Paderewski’s music. He participated in many international courses and conferences (m.in. „Chopin-Paderewski Conference”, Loyola University, Chicago; Charles Tourmemire – Conference, Nova Southeastern University, Miami; Tourmemire – Conference Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, International Conference on Music Semiotic, University of Edinburgh). He participated in international musicological conferences and courses of organ playing. He give concerts in Poland, Czech Republik, Germany, Norway and United States. He was a member of Institut of Silesian History of Music, foundations: „Opus Organi”, Foundation For Support Church Music, Commission for Church Music in Archidiocese of Wrocław. He was an organist at Cathedral in Legnica, St. Elisabeth Basilica and, the University Church in Wroclaw. He was awarded a scholarship of the Foundation for Polish Science, German DAAD-, KAAD-foundations. He recorded organ music for polish television and two CDs.
